Kensham Park pitch marked as one of the top three in the A Division this season to date

Congratulations are in order to Kensham Park ground staff Gary Newall and Ross Acton after the release of the latest set of figures in relation to the Tolchards Devon League A Division ground ratings.

After nine matches – with four at home – only Sandford (1st) and Brixham (2nd) stood above BCC in the rankings. The Kensham Park square scored particularly well with seam movement (18 scored – the highest being 22 for Lewdown and the lowest, 13, from the top two.

In all the BCC score was 68 pitch marks to record a Pitch Mark percentage of 85.00, bettered only by Sandford (56 marks and 93.33 per cent, and Brixham, 52 marks and 86.67 per cent.) Bottom of the pile are Barton who, twice in four home games, have seen their pitch markings drop below 16! They have scored 54 points for a percentage of 67.50. Budleigh Salterton sit second bottom with 44 pitch marks and a percentage of 73.33.

The good news did not stop there for skipper Dan Hardy has also led the 1st XI into second place in terms of the Fair Play charts. Only Hatherleigh have better markings in terms of respect for umpires and opponents. Indeed it’s mighty close with Hatherleigh having an overall percentage mark of 95.56 to the Bradninch marking of 95.00! The next best is Sandford (94.38).
