Luxton-Keough stars as Under-10s are edged out in thriller

The Under-10s softball team entertained Clyst St George on Sunday morning at Kensham Park.

Coach Natalie Hunt reports:

“The weather put the game into some doubt, but play was continuous thanks to a dry spell.

“It was a shock to have more players than we needed turn up (possibly a Bradninch first!), but they all were able to play with a bit of switching and changing around of the team.”

Match stats:

The bowling was as follows:
Johnny Oliver: 20 off 2 overs
Thomas Power: 11 off 2 overs, 1wicket
Jasper Kolowski: 15 off 2 overs
Evan Phare: 24 off 2 overs, 1 wicket
Dexter McCandish: 4 off 1 over
Ben Hickey: 9 of 1 over, 1 wicket
Edward Coles: 12 off 1 over
Henry Luxton-Keough: 8 off 1 over, 1 wicket
Harry Bridge: 13 off 1 over
Peter Smith: 11 off 1 over, 1 wicket

The batting pairs scored as follows:
Harry & Peter: 25 for 0 = 25
Jasper & Evan: 22 for 1 = 17
Edward & Henry: 43 for 3 = 28
Ben & Dex: 36 for 1 = 31
Thomas & Johnathan: 25 for 1 = 20

The final result was Bradninch 119, Clyst St George 121. Bradninch lost by 2 runs.

Natalie continues:

“The boys were brilliant throughout. Great team spirit, fielding and positivity all the way through. It’s a privilege to be manager of such a nice group of lads!

Player of the match is Henry as he took a bowled wicket, scored a few 4s and 6s and he is only a rising 9-year-old. Well done, Henry!

Please can any outstanding match fees be given to me on Friday. Our next match is Sunday the 5th June away to Exeter. I will text out nearer the time to see who can play. Hope to see you all at training on Friday. If the weather is OK we may well fire up the barbecue!”
