Square and pitch marks are EXCEPTIONAL

The Kensham Park square – and outfield – featured highly when the Tolchards Devon League end-of-season markings were published.

Indeed the hallowed turf at HQ was second only to that at Creedy Park, Sandford and better than all the other eight clubs in the A Division!

No one scored better than the Kensham Park square in the markings for seam movement and we were also highly marked in both carry and bounce and turn.

The markings gave us an overall score of 88.75 per cent and that runners-up spot to Sandford who were afforded a score of 89.38 per cent.

In terms of the overall gradings the final totals were.

1, Sandford 89.38; 2, BRADNINCH  88.75; 3, Chudleigh 83.75; 4, Lewdown 78.29; 5, Paignton 78.79; 6, Hatherleigh 78.13; 7, Ipplepen 76.25; 8, Budleigh Salterton 74.38; 9, Barton 67.78; 10, 67.50.

At the same time as the release of the ground figures the figures were also dished up for the respective A Division team captains and match management. We, of course, had two captains with Tim Piper overseeing much of the season before handing over to Gary Chappell.

In this category we had an overall placing of fifth out of the 10 teams.  Just two teams, Barton and Chudleigh, had higher scores in the category ‘respect for umpire’.

Across the board our captains and match management figures ended on 90.59 per cent.
